A great modern and sustainable sports event

The organizing committee will attach particular importance to the sustainability of the event.
By refraining from the construction of new buildings, reducing travel and systematically integrating public transport, the Games will be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Unavoidable CO2 emissions will be compensated. Switzerland will thus be the first country to organize a military World Games that will not have any impact on C02 emissions.
The Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) submitted its candidacy in September 2020 and, since there were no other bids, the Board of Directors of the International Sports Federation was able to decide on the award.

The holding of the World Military Winter Games will create a lasting legacy in favor of military sports.
Already today, through the promotion of top sports, the army enables many talented sportsmen and women to take the step towards a professional career and is thus an important partner in the Swiss sports scene.
The aim of the competitions organized in close cooperation with the national sports federations during the Military World Games is to generate enthusiasm and give strong impulses for the promotion of sport in the future.
