FamAPPy, the community app helping expats and local families feel at home

From the personal experience of two parents in Geneva comes a platform that turns digital connections into real-life relationships.

FamAPPy was born from the personal experience of two expat parents in Geneva, facing the same questions that many families encounter when arriving in a new city: how to create new connections? Who can provide reliable advice? How to make their children, and themselves, truly feel at home?

From these questions, and from the desire not to feel alone during such a delicate moment, FamAPPy took shape: a web app and a community designed to transform online connections into real-life meetings and unfamiliar cities into familiar places.

The idea: when a personal need becomes a project

The idea was born in September 2025, during a conversation between the two founders about how difficult it was to find other families with children of the same age to organize a weekend or an activity together. This difficulty is amplified when you have just moved and are not yet part of school groups or a local network.

Adding to the challenge are the many commitments of parenthood and the constant lack of time. Alongside the desire for social interaction, another fundamental need emerges: having access to reliable information, shared by those who have already experienced the same situations.

This led to the question: wouldn’t it be simpler to facilitate these meetings through a dedicated app? This is how FamAPPy was born, a project built around a concrete and shared need.

How FamAPPy works

FamAPPy is a digital community designed to help families, parents, and couples create authentic relationships, both in a new city and in the city where they already live.

Today, the app is active in several European and international cities: Zurich, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, Milan, Paris, Rome, and Dubai.

Once registered, users can:

  • Connect with other families or couples in the same city

  • Chat and get to know each other

  • Propose or participate in activities and events designed to be experienced offline

Alongside the relational dimension, FamAPPy also integrates a blog section, one of its distinctive elements. Here, content curated by family-oriented professionals is featured, such as educators, personal trainers, and nutritionists, together with practical guides to navigate daily life in the cities where the app is active.

From schools to neighborhoods, from leisure activities to initial bureaucratic steps, the goal is to provide reliable answers when they are truly needed.

FamAPPy is not designed to keep people in front of a screen, but to accompany them through the first steps, transforming a digital connection into a real-life meeting.

What sets FamAPPy apart from other digital communities

The main difference is clear: FamAPPy does not aim to “fill online time,” but to give value to real-life relationships.

In an era where we are constantly connected and often tired of scrolling, the focus is on the quality of connections, not quantity. FamAPPy is neither an impersonal noticeboard nor a simple event hub: it is a space where people can feel welcomed.

The integration of community, expert content, and offline activities creates a complete ecosystem, capable of supporting families, parents, and couples through the different stages of life in a new city.

Who is behind FamAPPy and how to join the community

FamAPPy is a community in the truest sense of the word. Behind the app are many people who actively participate, each dedicating the time they can as Ambassadors, blog contributors, or event organizers.

Those who wish to get involved and become active members of their community can contact the team directly through the app or write to info@famappy.com.

FamAPPy is also present on social media, where it shares updates, events, and content dedicated to the community:

What “feeling at home” means in a new city

For the founders, “feeling at home” is not a geographical matter, but a relational one.

It means knowing you can have a coffee with someone, ask for advice without feeling out of place, share an afternoon at the park, or face a daily challenge together. It means easing that sense of disorientation that often comes with moving, especially when children are involved.

Creating small points of reference with people, reliable information, and opportunities to meet is what allows an unfamiliar city to gradually become familiar. And this is precisely the goal of FamAPPy.

A model that goes beyond the expat world

Although it was born from the expat experience, the need for connection and community is universal. More and more families, even in local contexts, experience moments of isolation or struggle to build authentic networks.

The FamAPPy model is flexible precisely because it starts from a deeply human need: to feel part of something. For this reason, it can evolve and adapt to non-expat contexts as well, while keeping its values of authenticity, inclusivity, and real relationships intact.

Ultimately, feeling at home does not depend on where you are, but on who you meet along the way.
