Tuscany joins the train of differentiated autonomy

In October 2019, Florence also began negotiations with the government for a regionalism of its own, however limited to only 10 subjects and agreed with Italy

There are ten matters in which the Region of Tuscany is applying for greater autonomy on the basis of Article 117 of the Constitution of the Italian Republic, updated in 2001 to try to give more powers to regional authorities.

Preliminary agreement between the Government and the Emilia-Romagna Region (in Italian)
Preliminary agreement between the Government and the Lombardy Region (in Italian)
Preliminary agreement between the Government and the Veneto Region (in Italian)

It goes from the government of the territory, to defend sustainable development and containment of the soil today guaranteed by the urban laws of Tuscany and the landscape plan, to the environment, first in charge of the provinces and today back, at least in Tuscany, to the Region.

There are the cultural heritage (and in particular their promotion unitary on the regional territory) and there is the work, there are the professional technical education and training, ports (including state concessions), the reception and assistance to refugees and health, where the request for particular autonomy concerns the organization, the management of professional resources and intramoenia, specialized training, rates and cost-sharing, the building heritage and the therapeutic equivalence of drugs.

From relations with citizens and businesses to immigration

The request for greater autonomy also extends to the coordination of public finance and to local autonomy, by virtue of advanced legislation on associations, mergers, reorganization of former provincial functions, but also simplification of relations with citizens and businesses and immigration management.

In October 2019 also began for Tuscany the negotiations with the Government on differentiated autonomy: a limited regionalism and concerted with the central level, but which takes into account that in some matters Tuscan regional legislation is more advanced than the national one and therefore on this there should be no turning back.

An autonomy aimed at simplifying and unbureaucratizing, that enhances the Region led by Florence in the framework of national unity.

Even Piedmont has said yes to differentiated regionalism

Tuscany joins the paths already started by Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto. The process, at the end of the negotiations, foresees the stipulation of an agreement with Italy, similar to the three previous ones.
