Interest in Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch’s vision

There was particular discussion of the OECD’s new vision, an initiative launched by Secretary of State Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch in November 2019 at a meeting of the Global Strategy Group she chaired.
In this new vision, member countries reaffirmed their emphasis on the founding principles of the OECD, namely democracy based on the rule of law and human rights and the principles of an open and transparent market economy.
The document will be adopted by ministers in October 2021 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the OECD. The President of the Swiss Confederation also highlighted the quality and usefulness of the analyses and recommendations in the OECD’s new economic report on Switzerland, which will be published at the end of the year.

Many challenges in international tax policy

Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer met with Secretary General Mathias Cormann to discuss current and future challenges in international tax policy.
During the meeting, he reiterated the conditions under which Switzerland has accepted the basic principles of the Inclusive Framework: Switzerland expects concrete measures to take due account of the interests of small and innovative countries.
In addition, it must be ensured that the member states apply the rules uniformly and that the right balance between tax rate and basis of assessment is found for minimum taxation.
