Marc Bugnon, Director of the Federal Tax Administration, at the helm of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations

The Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) has entrusted Switzerland with the chairmanship for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
The Confederation will be represented by Marc Bugnon, Deputy Director of the Federal Tax Administration (FTA).
Marc Bugnon has been representing Switzerland on the IOTA board for several years.
He is taking over the chairmanship of the organization immediately and will remain in office until the next General Assembly.
Marc Bugnon has been acting director of IOTA since 2015. After studying law, he held various positions at the Administrative Court of the Canton of Fribourg.
In 2004, he became head of the Law Division forming part of the Main Division Direct Federal Tax, Withholding Tax, Stamp Duty (DP DPB) and in 2014 he became head of the DPB.

Founded in Budapest in 1996, IOTA has 44 members

An IOTA member since 2006, the FTA has sat on the nine-member Steering Committee since summer 2019.
From 2006 to 2013, Switzerland was represented on the board with a one-year break and chaired the organization in the 2012-2013 administrative year.
The committee defines strategy and decides on work and training programs. IOTA is based in Budapest and was founded in October 1996.
It currently has 44 members, including national tax authorities from all EU countries.
The organization provides European tax administrations with a forum for discussion of tax technology issues and currently focuses on improving the exchange of tax data.
