Confederazione Imprese Italia meets with the Honorable Alberto Gusmeroli
On January 19, 2023, Confederazione Imprese Italia met at the Chamber of Deputies with the Honorable Alberto Gusmeroli, Chairman of the 10th Committee on Productive Activities, Commerce and Tourism, to analyze and debate on the work of a parliamentary fact-finding investigation dedicated to “Made in Italy” and the presentation of new ideas for innovative export of Italian SMEs. The Confederazione Imprese Italia is a National Employers’ Association founded by a group of Italian entrepreneurs with the task of protecting entrepreneurs in the trade union, economic-financial, technological and environmental spheres, ensuring representation in dealings with workers’ organizations, political-administrative Authorities, Bodies and Associations. For the Confederation of Italian Enterprises, SMEs are the main engine of Italy’s economic development, providing the necessary tools to be competitive on the national and international markets. Participating in the meeting were Biagio Cefalo, President of Confederazione Imprese Italia; Carlos Sorrentino, Secretary General of Confederazione Imprese Italia; Domenico Letizia, journalist and Press Office Resp.; and Pierluigi Testa, international relations expert. During the proceedings in Montecitorio, Confederazione Imprese Italia presented President Gusmeroli with the Confederation’s first Notebook 2023 dedicated to promoting businesses abroad.
The issues addressed sifted through the concrete needs of small and medium-sized enterprises in relation to exporting and new ways of internationalization. Particular attention was paid to the role of Economic Diplomacy, with the presentation of some of the Confederation’s ideas for the promotion of Italian excellence through Consulates and Embassies abroad. For the representatives of the Confederation of Italian Enterprises, even the foreign countries targeted for business activities must be carefully analyzed in order to allow companies to carry out activities within democratic contexts, respectful of human rights, workers and environmental sustainability.
Secretary General Carlos Sorrentino and President Biagio Cefalo emphasized the need to review foreign financing and promotion policies for small businesses, with special attention to be devoted to innovative companies and businesses in the South. Journalist Domenico Letizia and international relations expert Pierluigi Testa presented President Gusmeroli with the enormous difficulties in digitization, pressing the importance of new investments in ultrabroadband connectivity to be developed in the regions of Southern Italy, to revive those essential tools to digitize all the country’s inland areas and smaller islands and revive digital export opportunities. Finally, Confederazione Imprese Italia will organize an event/meeting with entrepreneurs from Campania who will be able to discuss with President Alberto Gusmeroli, who gladly accepted the invitation to learn about the business reality of that region.

Federitaly presents its initiatives and the 100% Made in Italy Brand to Undersecretary Bitonci
A meeting was held on January 17 to present Federitaly’s initiatives in support of businesses and the collective brand “Federitaly 100% Made in Italy” to Massimo Bitonci, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy of the Meloni Government. In our geopolitical and economic reality, the “Made in Italy” brand is a strategic asset of the national economy and the current government, yet our legislation still marginally protects it. Innovation strategies and digital tools to protect our authentic Made in Italy were the topics at the center of the important meeting between the Federitaly delegation led by President Carlo Verdone and composed of National Secretary Lamberto Scorzino and Legislative Office member Annapaola Larenza and Undersecretary Massimo Bitonci. Undersecretary Massimo Bitonci expressed considerable appreciation for Federitaly’s initiatives to support mSMEs as well as great attention to the social utility desks Desk Impresa (aimed at mSMEs) and Rete Valore Italia (aimed at small municipalities). Thanks to ongoing synergies and constant and continuous dialogue with businesses, the Federation wanted to present to Hon. Bitonci the collective brand “Federitaly 100% Made in Italy,” which through a complex and innovative system of identified certification, promotes and supports 100% Italian products, in compliance with Law 166/09, Article 16. Essentially, a qualified figure of a mark of origin is introduced that differs from the simple “Made in Italy” in that the mark is granted only after extensive controls, both documentary and in-person, through a company audit to check that the entire production process complies with the relevant regulations and the specification of the mark itself. The innovation is in the process of brand control and authenticity, which makes use of a platform in blockchain technology on which all product and company information is deposited, as well as the salient steps in the certification process. Product counterfeiting is systematically unfeasible because blockchain technology allows the validity of the mark affixed to products to be verified by scanning a QRC that links back to the innovative platform, providing certainty about the product being purchased. For the Federation, only those product types for which the design, planning, processing and packaging took place exclusively on Italian territory and with Italian raw materials can be considered authentically Italian products. The certification process aims to confirm the value of the quality product of genuine Italian origin. Those who do not generate a valuable product made entirely in Italy will never be able to boast the 100% Made in Italy certification, and the technological innovation of blockchain makes it possible to make the parameters of the certification unchangeable.
Federitaly’s innovative 100% Made in Italy certification makes it possible to recognize and certify the excellence produced by Italian companies, with immediate and positive repercussions, in terms of product visibility and trade, for both the domestic and export markets, expanding its authority in foreign markets.
The interlocution with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy opened first with the Head of the Minister’s Technical Secretariat Marco Calabrò and then with the Honorable Bitonci, will continue with meetings to be scheduled in the coming weeks with Vice-Minister Valentini and Minister Urso.
