In Strasbourg, Switzerland is for the protection of journalists

Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga informed the ministers of the Council of Europe of a national action plan for the protection of media work

Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga is concerned about deteriorating working conditions for journalists.
On the occasion of the Council of Europe’s Virtual Ministerial Conference on Media and Information Society on June 11, 2021, the minister stressed Switzerland’s willingness to put a stop to this development and to support measures to strengthen freedom of expression and media in Europe.
“Attacks on media professionals and impunity for such crimes should be regarded as attacks on democracy itself,” the Federal Councillor said in her address.
