Two new senior officers for Swiss Army

The Federal Council has appointed Brigadiers Hugo Roux and Peter Soller to the leadership positions at the Military Academy and Counter Aircraft Training 33

At its meeting on March 12, 2021, the Federal Council decided on the following senior officer appointments effective July 1, 2021.

Brigadier Hugo Roux, currently commander of the Anti-Aircraft Defense Training Formation 33, will become commander of the Military Academy as of July 1, 2021.
During his studies at the University of Fribourg to obtain his law degree (lic. jur.), 51-year-old Hugo Roux taught law at the vocational school in Murten.
In 1996 Brigadier Hugo Roux joined the instructor corps and since then has been employed in various functions in the armed forces. From 2002 to 2003, he fulfilled an advanced training at the U.S. Air Force Command and Staff College in Maxwell.
On January 1, 2017, he was appointed by the Federal Council as acting commander of Anti-Aircraft Defense Training Formation 33, and on July 1, 2017, he was confirmed as commander of Anti-Aircraft Defense Training Formation 33, with concurrent promotion to the rank of brigadier.

Brigadier Peter Soller of the Swiss Army

Brigadier Peter Soller, currently commander of the Air Force Education and Training Brigade, will become commander of the Anti-Aircraft Defense Training Formation 33 as of July 1, 2021.
The 54-year-old Peter Soller joined the Air Force Supervisory Squadron as a professional military pilot in 1989 and has since been employed in various functions in the armed forces.
In 1997 he successfully completed his studies (lic. oec. publ.) at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zurich. From 2000 to 2001 he completed an advanced training course at the Air Command and Staff College in Montgomery, Alabama, USA.
In 2009 Peter Soller also successfully completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Security Policy and Crisis Management at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. On 1 June 2010 he was appointed by the Federal Council as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Command, with simultaneous promotion to the rank of Brigadier.

On January 1, 2014, he was appointed commander of Air Force Training Formation 31, and on January 1, 2018, Brigadier Soller was confirmed as commander of the Air Force Education and Training Brigade.

The succession for the commander of the Air Force Training and Instruction Brigade will be regulated at a later date.
Brigadier Peter Candidus Stocker, commander of the military academy, will leave the instructor corps on 30 June 2021 having reached the normal retirement age. The Federal Council thanks him for his service.
