Swiss and Italian politicians discuss the future in Au

On July 17, Marco Chiesa and Piero Marchesi (UDC) and Guido Guidesi and Stefano Gualandris (Lega) illustrated the advantages of federalism to small businesses

On Friday, July 17, in the beautiful setting of Halbinsel Au, on Lake Zurich, a networking evening was held between Italian and Swiss entrepreneurs and politicians, organized by the new association “Swiss Federalism”.

The entrepreneurs and companies present were able to promote their products and services to a qualified audience, with the presence and intervention of four members of the Parliaments of the Swiss Confederation and of the Italian Republic.

The president of “Swiss Federalism“, Andrea Schenone, brought to the attention of those present the projects and initiatives undertaken by the association in support of small and medium enterprises, during the difficult period directly resulting from the pandemic of COVID19.

A country capable of overcoming exogenous shocks

He also underlined on a political level how, now more than ever, Swiss federalism is not only a model that has helped Switzerland to prosper, but a system that has proven to overcome even violent external shocks better and faster than others.

It is a model that Swiss Federalism aspires to make better known, especially to all Italians living in their homeland: a cultural battle before a political one, like the one for the protection and promotion of the Italian language beyond Gotthard, another founding pillar of the association based in Gommiswald, in the Canton of St. Gallen.

Guido Guidesi, member of the Lega – Salvini Premier and responsible for productive activities for the party, shared with the audience some reflections, in particular on the immobility of the current Italian government and its lack of culture in economic matters: it is the enterprise that creates work, but in Rome this is what they seem to have forgotten.

The Lega’s criticism of Giuseppe Conte’s government

Together with Stefano Gualandris, coordinator of Lega nel Mondo Switzerland, he and other Carroccio members present shared some observations of a strictly political nature.

The immobility of Palazzo Chigi was an exception when it came to reducing the number of parliamentarians abroad, perhaps because it was intimidated by the many critical voices that have been raised in recent years by Italians registered with AIRE on the undemocratic behavior pursued by the center-left governments, from Mario Monti onwards.

These governments are the result of parliamentary “inciuciuci”, made against the majority of voters, endorsed by biased Presidents of the Republic, and by large sectors of the judiciary politicized and involved in allegedly murky and criminal affairs.

Anti-democratic behaviors that have reached their climax with the “Conte bis” government, which in an unworthy manner has not scrupled to govern two majorities of completely different colors.

All aggravated by a European Union that continues to distinguish itself for its tendency to democratic overpowering, as demonstrated by the cordon sanitaire deployed in Europe against the League, the most voted party in Europe in the last elections to define the Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg.

The solitary battle of Christoph Blocher

A tendency well known by Switzerland, which thanks to federalism, direct democracy and the lone battle of Christoph Blocher of the Schweizerische Volkspartei has managed in the past not to enter the European Economic Area, a choice that proved to be salvific for the Swiss Confederation.

Today, unfortunately, according to Piero Marchesi, president of UDC/SVP Ticino and Marco Chiesa, the party’s sole national manager and vice president of ASNI (Action for a neutral and independent Switzerland), the Confederation still has to fight against a European Union that tends to violate democratic ideals: just think of the Framework Agreement, the equivalence of the Stock Exchange or the childish refusal to share data on the coronavirus.

Switzerland cannot be the relief valve for all the serious problems of an almost bankrupt EU: a small country cannot take on the burden of the tens of millions of unemployed caused by the wrong policies pursued by the leaders in Brussels.

In this light, even today the Confederation is called to express its opinion with a referendum for controlled immigration promoted by the Centre Democratic Union.

The speeches ended with the hope that the Federal Council can maintain the high standards put to the test in recent years by uncontrolled immigration and the overwhelming will of the European Union.

On the Lake of Zurich, similar confidence was expressed that Italy can have as soon as possible a new Council of Ministers and President of the same that is authentic expression of the popular will, the only way to oppose effectively to the wrong policies of the EU.
