Success for the presentation of the book Il coraggio è femmina at the Italian Chamber of Deputies
Zaira Sellerio presents the book Il coraggio è femmina (Courage Is Female) at the Chamber: a successful event dedicated to the strength and resilience of women.

Great participation and meaningful reflections marked the presentation of the book Il coraggio è femmina (Courage Is Female) in the Press Room of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, held on November 25, 2025.The event, broadcast live on the Chamber’s WebTV, attracted an attentive and engaged audience, transforming the space into a place of dialogue and celebration of women’s strength and talent within Italian culture.
Zaira Sellerio, the author of the novel, a Sicilian who moved to Switzerland at a very young age, shared the journey that led her to create the work, highlighting the value of courage and resilience in women’s lives.Hon. Simone Billi, Member of Parliament for the Overseas Constituency – Europe and President of the Committee on Italians Abroad, emphasized the importance of the author for the Italian community in Switzerland and around the world.

Among the main speakers, Maria Rosaria De Simone and Anna Rea, both university professors, offered a critical analysis of the text, highlighting its educational and cultural relevance. Claudia Cammarata, film director, commented on the cinematic inspiration of the novel, while Giuseppe Siviglia, Mayor of San Giuseppe Jato, emphasized the role of politics in promoting cultural initiatives. Antonietta Micali of the Accademia Tiberina and Cinzia Baldazzi, literary critic, completed the panel with academic and literary insights.
Notable recognition: the cultural patronage of the Cattedra delle Donne – UN
The Director of the Cattedra delle Donne, Dr. Antonietta Micali, granted Zaira Sellerio the official Cultural Patronage of the Chair, recognizing the book as a significant contribution fully aligned with the institution’s mission: promoting a model of civil coexistence based on harmony between men and women and challenging persistent male-dominated cultural views.
The Cattedra delle Donne – a nationally significant educational project inspired by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN, 1948) – was also authorized by UN Women on October 11, 2024, to use the Generation Equality Campaign logo. All initiatives under its patronage, including the book Il coraggio è femmina (Courage Is Female), may therefore display the dual official UN–Generation Equality logos.
The publication will be included in the Cattedra delle Donne’s encyclopedic platform as a cultural resource and testimony supporting the ethical-social objectives guiding its actions.
A work recognized for its social and educational value
The presentation at the Italian Chamber of Deputies confirmed Il coraggio è femmina as a work of strong cultural and social impact, capable of engaging different generations and contributing to social change through storytelling.
The novel has also received cultural patronage from the Accademia Tiberina, further consolidating its relevance in the contemporary literary landscape.
