Five new participants for “Exemplary Energy and Climate”
PostBus, Flughafen Zürich AG, PostFinance, RUAG MRO Holding AG and SRG SSR join the first ten participants projected towards the 2050 climate target
PostBus, Flughafen Zürich AG, PostFinance, RUAG MRO Holding AG and SRG SSR are giving new impetus to the “Exemplary Energy and Climate” initiative by joining the first ten participants.
In doing so, they are also contributing to the implementation of the Energy Strategy 2050 and the Climate Target 2050.
Responsible for more than 2.5 percent of energy consumption
Responsible for more than 2.5 percent of Switzerland’s energy consumption, Swiss Post, Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, Geneva Airport, SBB, SIG, Skyguide, SUVA, Swisscom, the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) and the Federal Civilian Administration joined the “Exemplary Energy and Climate” initiative in 2013.
Since then, they have been jointly pursuing common goals to increase energy efficiency and promote the transition to renewable energy.
Now five more companies, utility providers and leaders in their fields, are joining the top ten participants in the initiative.
PostFinance and PostBus are very independent
Already represented in the initiative as part of Swiss Post until the end of 2020, PostFinance and PostBus will be independent participants from this year.
They are joined by Flughafen Zürich AG, RUAG MRO Holding AG and SRG SSR.
The participation of the five new participants and the interest shown by other companies and organizations show that the initiative meets the need for a structured framework and an active network for the implementation of the Energy Strategy 2050.
What is the exemplary energy and climate initiative?
The “Exemplary Energy and Climate” initiative is one of the twelve measures of the Energy Strategy 2050.
Promoted by the federal government, it is aimed at companies and parastatal and paracantonal organizations throughout Switzerland that want to act in an exemplary manner in the energy and climate sector.
Having increased their energy efficiency by an average of more than 30 percent in a first phase from 2013 to 2020, the first participants in the initiative are now embarking on the second phase with an increased focus on expanding renewable energies (fact sheet).
