Andermatt, until 2040 “easy” sale of funds abroad

The Swiss government has extended the stop on the permit requirement for foreign acquisition of land and buildings in the tourist pearl of Canton Uri by 10 years

At its meeting on February 24, 2021, the Federal Council extended the exemption from the permit requirement for the “Andermatt tourism project”.
The extension had been requested due to delays in the implementation of the initiative.

This is to allow the region to reorient itself economically after the withdrawal of several federal companies.
The planned and largely already built vacation complex includes several hotels, a concert hall, a public swimming pool, a new train station with apartments, apartment buildings, vacation homes, chalets, an 18-hole golf course and other sports and leisure facilities.

The permit exemption was originally limited to the end of 2030.
Due to delays in project implementation, the Swiss government has now extended it, upon request, to the end of 2040.
