A group of experts will improve the Swiss fiscal centre

At the request of Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer, experts from the federal government, the cantons and business and academia are working on 16 areas of action

In its report, the “Swiss Tax Square” group of experts, which is made up of representatives from the federal government, the cantons and business and academia, gave an overall positive assessment of the Swiss tax system.

The Federal Department of Finance (FDF) will submit measures to the Federal Council by the end of June.

In its report, the group of experts praises the tax culture and recommends the further cultivation of strengths, but also notes potential for improvement.

Overall, the expert group formulated 16 fields of action that should strengthen the Swiss location.

For some areas of action, the legislative process has already begun (withholding tax on interest, abolition of the issue tax on equity capital, partial abolition of the trading tax and introduction of the tonnage tax).

Comprehensive report to Federal Council by end of June

On behalf of Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer, the group of experts has examined areas of action to strengthen Switzerland as a tax centre.

The aim is to improve the framework conditions for the private sector and make Switzerland an attractive location for investment.

The FDF will submit measures based on the recommendations of the group of experts to the Federal Council by the end of June. The Federal Council will then express its opinion.
