“Prize for Federalism” 2021: finalists selected<\/h1>\n

The fifty or so very different applications from various horizons of Switzerland in the running for the CHF 10,000 from the ch Foundation have been short-listed<\/em><\/h3>\n

The jury of the “Federalism Award” has selected the finalists from among fifty or so nominations, which come from very different horizons and reflect the diversity that distinguishes Switzerland.
\nThe name of the winner will be announced at the National Conference on Federalism, scheduled for May 28 in Basel.
\nThe 2021 edition of the award was a great success.
\nAs of this year, the prize is awarded by an interdisciplinary jury on the basis of a call for nominations.
\nOn Thursday, April 22, the jury met to select the finalists from the fifty or so nominations received.<\/p>\n

Here is the list of final nominees for this year’s award:<\/p>\n

– Carlos Henriquez, humorist
\n– easyvote, a project of the Swiss Federation of Youth Parliaments (FSPG)
\n– Institute for Research on the Public Sphere and Society (f\u00f6g) at the University of Zurich
\n– Forum for Italian in Switzerland
\n– Pr. Dr. Adrian Vatter, Director of the Institute for Political Science, University of Bern
\n– Swiss Youth Editions (ESG)
\n– Ursi Anna Aeschbacher, founder of the “die brotsuppe” publishing house
\n– Association of Cantonal Doctors of Switzerland (AMCS)<\/p>\n

Ten thousand francs endowment and an AOC jury<\/h4>\n

The prize, which as of this year has an endowment of 10,000 francs, rewards persons or organizations that promote federalism and national cohesion through their political, civil, scientific or cultural commitment.
\nPrevious recipients of the award include Circus Knie, the Inter-Jurassic Assembly and cabaret artist Emil Steinberger.
\nThe jury is composed of journalist G\u00fclsha Adilji, Fribourg State Chancellor Danielle Gagnaux-Morel, Professor Tania Ogay of the Faculty of Education at the University of Fribourg, State Councillor and President of the ch Foundation Pascal Brouilis (Vaud), State Councillor and President of the Conference of Cantonal Governments Christian Rathgeb (GR) and Marco Solari, President of the Locarno Film Festival.
\nThe jury evaluated the candidates’ efforts in terms of communication, innovation, participation, tradition and cohesion. The selection of the finalists reflects the great diversity of profiles and criteria.<\/p>\n

German-speaking Switzerland, organizations and culture<\/h4>\n

Most of the applications come from organizations (37), although there are also applications from individuals (11).
\nThe applications reflect the distribution of the national languages: 15 come from German-speaking Switzerland, 10 from French-speaking Switzerland and 3 from Italian-speaking Switzerland.
\nIn addition, there are applications from national organizations (12) or initiatives with a bilingual, trilingual or quadrilingual orientation.
\nThe distribution of areas is also very balanced: most of the nominations come from the field of culture (24), 9 from politics, 8 from civil society and 7 from science.
\nThe “Prize for Federalism” is an initiative of the ch Foundation in favour of national cohesion and the development of federalism.<\/p>\n

Swiss monuments? A “hidden” treasure to be valued…<\/strong><\/a>
\nAthenian democracy? Revive between Glarus and Appenzell…<\/strong><\/a>
