outlays was 2.3 percent: 1.8 billion more costs, but lower than the five-year average (2.8)<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>In 2019, the total costs of the healthcare system in Switzerland in accordance with international standards amounted to CHF 82.1 billion.<br \/>\nIn the same year, the increase in health system expenditures was 2.3 percent, which is below the average of the last five years (2.8 percent).<br \/>\nCompared with the previous year, the ratio of health system expenditure to gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices increased from 11.2% to 11.3%.<\/p>\n<figure data collected by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) of the costs and financing of the health care system.<br \/>\nCompared to the 2018 total expenditures of 80.2 billion francs, there were 1.8 billion more expenditures in 2019.<br \/>\n82.2 percent (CHF 1.5 billion) of these additional expenditures resulted from increased expenditures for hospitals (+ CHF 0.8 billion), physician practices (+ CHF 0.5 billion), and medical-social establishments (+ CHF 0.2 billion).<\/p>\n<p><a SNB<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With regard to the increase in health system expenditures compared to the trend of the last five years (+2.8%), a more varied picture emerges for the individual service categories.<br \/>\nBelow-average or even negative growth rates were recorded for inpatient curative treatments (+1.0 per cent) and preventive measures (-0.5 per cent).<br \/>\nShowing an above-average growth rate, however, were ancillary services (+7.1 percent, e.g., laboratory testing and rescues), rehabilitation (+4.7 percent), administration (+3.4 percent), and health goods (+3.1 id=\"caption-attachment-95711\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Safe greeting in time of pandemic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>798 francs per inhabitant per month for health care<\/h4>\n<p>In 2019, CHF 798 per inhabitant per month was spent on the health care system in Switzerland, which is CHF 12 more than in the previous year.<br \/>\n302 francs per person (+12 francs) were covered by compulsory health insurance benefits, while 149 francs (+2 francs) were paid by the state.<br \/>\n52 francs (+2 francs) were financed by social insurances such as AHV, IV and accident insurance, 30 francs (+\/-0 francs) by other social security institutions as well as by need-based social benefits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swissfederalism.ch\/en\/public-transportation-in-pandemic-time-under-the-lens\/\"><strong>Public transport in times of pandemic under scrutiny<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<a Switzerland&#8221;.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, 56 francs (+3 francs) came from supplementary insurance and other private individuals contributed 11 francs (-4 francs).<br \/>\nIn addition to insurance premiums and taxes, households had to pay the remaining CHF 199 (CHF -3), which mainly comprised benefits for old people&#8217;s homes, dental treatment as well as contributions to
