Online trade: more customs security between Switzerland and the EU<\/h1>\n

Bern will participate in the “Import Control System 2”, whereby the data will already be transmitted during dispatch from the country of origin<\/em><\/h3>\n

Switzerland will participate in the Import Control System 2 (ICS2) of the European Union. This means that customs data, in particular those relating to online trade, will already be transmitted during dispatch from the country of origin.<\/p>\n

This enables efficient and comprehensive risk analysis by the Federal Customs Administration (FCA).<\/p>\n

The EASA agreement dates back to 25 June 2009<\/h4>\n

With the adaptation of the agreement of 25 June 2009 between Switzerland and the EU on the facilitation of inspections and formalities in the carriage of goods and on customs security measures (ZESA), security in international goods traffic is increased and the digitalization of customs processes is continued.<\/p>\n

In addition, it is ensured that the level of security between Switzerland and the EU remains unchanged and that facilitations in goods traffic between Switzerland and the EU can continue to be implemented.

The first steps will involve postal traffic<\/h4>\n

The first step of ICS2 is currently being introduced in the area of postal traffic.
\nOn the basis of the ZESA, Switzerland and the EU form a common customs security area. In this security area, the parties apply equivalent security standards and waive the corresponding security measures that apply to third countries.<\/p>\n

The Parties have agreed on an adjustment of Chapter III and Annexes I and II of the ZESA Agreement.
\nThe corresponding decision of 12 March 2021 of the Joint Committee is provisionally applied as of today, subject to ratification.<\/p>\n
