Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, France, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Syria, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-377884\"><strong>Italy<\/strong> was admitted to the United Nations in 1955, <strong>Japan<\/strong> in 1956, the then two Germanies (<strong>West Germany and the German Democratic Republic<\/strong>) in 1973, and <strong>Liechtenstein<\/strong> in 1990.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-377884\"><strong>Switzerland<\/strong> joined this organization in September 2002 as an active and innovative member and has the opportunity to contribute to the resolution of global problems and assume its responsibilities in the development of world affairs.
