Despite the increase in Swiss wine consumption compared to 2020, Swiss wines are losing market share slightly. The increase is mainly due to the consumption of white wine, which increased by 4 million liters to a total of 88.2 million liters. This is the highest volume since 2013. Red wine consumption, on the other hand, remained almost stable (+0.8 million liters) and stands at 167 million liters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-377884\"><a href=\"https:\/\/k16trade.ch\/italian-wine\/\"><strong>The wines of the feudal castle of Montegrosso d&#8217;Asti<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-377884\">Swiss wine consumption in 2021 is 2.8% higher than in 2020, adjusted for the effect of the downgrading of Swiss wines with AOC to table wine and industrial wine. It amounts to 90 million liters. The consumption of foreign white wines increased by 14.8%, while the consumption of foreign red wines increased more slightly at 3.4%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-377884\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/swissfederalism.ch\/en\/the-grape-harvest-2020-in-switzerland-scarce-but-excellent\/\">The grape harvest 2020 in Switzerland? Scarce, but excellent<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-377884\">The sustained increase in the consumption of sparkling wine is also confirmed this year. In 2021, a total of 23.5 million liters of sparkling wine were consumed, 2.9 million liters more than in 2020 (+14.2%).According to data from the Swiss Wine Market Observatory (SVMO), sales of Swiss wines offered by eight major retailers remained stable (+0.7%) compared to the previous year, while sales of foreign wines increased slightly (+1.4%).
