called <strong>Gourmino Le Gruyere AOP<\/strong>, produced by <strong>Michael Spycher<\/strong> of <strong>Bergk\u00e4serei Fritzenhaus<\/strong> in Wasen im Emmental (Bern) has been named the best cheese in the world at the 34th edition of the &#8220;World Championship Cheese Contest&#8221; organized by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association with a score of <strong>98.423 out of 100.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Bernese cheese not only won this 2022 edition, but also those of 2020 and 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Second place went to another Swiss cheese: the <strong>Appenzeller Mild-Spicy<\/strong> produced by <strong>Hans N\u00e4f<\/strong> of <strong>K\u00e4serei Niederb\u00fcren AG<\/strong> in Niederb\u00fcren, (St. Gallen) with a score of <strong>98.331.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThe third place goes to the Austrian cheese <strong>Erzherzog Johann<\/strong> produced by <strong>Othmar Pichler and his team<\/strong> from <strong>Obersteirische Molkerei<\/strong> of Knittelfeld &#8211; Steiermark (Austria) with a score of 98.254.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130662\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130662\" href=\"https:\/\/worldchampioncheese.org\/\">World Championship Cheese Contest\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>is the largest technical cheese, butter and yogurt competition in the world and has been held every 2 years since 1957 in the state of Wisconsin in the United States of America.<\/p>\n<p>Fifty-three internationally renowned judges have tasted, smelled and inspected over 3,000 cheeses from 141 classes presented at the event held at the Monona Terrace in Madison.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-nine countries were represented at this event this year.<\/p>\n<p>The United States earned 94 Best in Class placements while Switzerland took home 10 gold medals, and the Netherlands 7.<\/p>\n<div class=\"breadcrumb-title h5 text-bold\"><a href=\"https:\/\/swissfederalism.ch\/premio-pmi-start-up-innovative-e-qui-a-zurigo-la-festa\/\"><strong>Innovative SME\/Start Up Award: the party is here (in Zurich)!<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<div greetings of the jury<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<h2>The United States and Cheese<\/h2>\n<p>The USA took part in the competition with cheesemakers coming from 33 American states: the State of Wisconsin excelled with 45 Best in Class titles followed by New York with 12 first places, and then Idaho with 11 gold medals.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130666\"
