In 2020, 11 million people were dependent on humanitarian aid. More than 5.5 million people have fled Syria and found refuge in neighbouring countries, according to the UN.<br \/>\nSince 2011, Switzerland has provided around CHF 522 million to counter the devastating effects of the conflict on the population in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.
