In Switzerland the 2025 Winter Military World Games<\/h1>\n

A thousand athletes will be active from March 23 to 30 in four years in the regions of Engelberg-Titlis, Andermatt-Realp and the Goms Valley<\/em><\/h3>\n

The 2025 World Military Winter Games will be held in Switzerland. On Monday, June 28, 2021, the Board of Directors of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) designated Switzerland as the host nation for the fifth edition of the Winter Military World Games.
\nMore than a thousand athletes from around the world will participate in this major sporting event. The games will take place from March 23 to 30, 2025 in central Switzerland and the Goms Valley.
\nSwitzerland will have an eye on the sustainability of the event and will organize the first ever CO2-neutral Military World Games.<\/p>\n

Splendid Lucerne will take center stage<\/h4>\n

The city of Lucerne will be the nerve center of the Winter Military World Games and also the venue for the sports competitions.
\nThe Alpine disciplines will take place in the Engelberg-Titlis region, while the Nordic disciplines will be held in the Andermatt\/Realp and Goms Valley regions.
\nIn addition to the Alpine and Nordic winter sports disciplines, there will also be competitions in ski touring, ski orienteering, sport climbing and cross-country running.
\nIn addition, Switzerland will also organize Paralympic sports competitions for soldiers who have suffered injuries during deployment.<\/p>\n

The spending limit will be around 13 million francs<\/h4>\n

The event will be financed from the ordinary budget of the Defence Grouping with an expenditure limit of 13 million francs.
\nThe Federal Council was informed of the decision of the international sports federation at its meeting on 30 June 2021.
\nAs the third-largest sports organization in the world, the International Sports Federation has more than 140 member states.
\nThe World Military Games are held every four years, with a two-year alternation between summer and winter games. Participation is restricted to military members of the armed forces.
\nWith the motto “Military Champions for Peace”, the slogan of the fifth edition of the World Military Winter Games symbolizes the pacifying effect of sport.<\/p>\n

A great modern and sustainable sports event<\/h4>\n

The organizing committee will attach particular importance to the sustainability of the event.
\nBy refraining from the construction of new buildings, reducing travel and systematically integrating public transport, the Games will be as environmentally friendly as possible.
\nUnavoidable CO2 emissions will be compensated. Switzerland will thus be the first country to organize a military World Games that will not have any impact on C02 emissions.
\nThe Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) submitted its candidacy in September 2020 and, since there were no other bids, the Board of Directors of the International Sports Federation was able to decide on the award.<\/p>\n
