Switzerland’s bilateral meetings with the USA and Russia<\/h1>\n

In Geneva a delegation led by Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, will see Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Vladimir Putin between Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16<\/em><\/h3>\n

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, the high-level meeting between U.S. President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place in Geneva at the Villa La Grange.
\nAs part of this summit, Switzerland will meet with both the United States and Russia. These meetings will focus on bilateral issues.
\nThe meeting with the United States will take place on Tuesday, June 15. The U.S. delegation, which will be led by President Joseph R. Biden Jr. will also include Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
\nThe Swiss delegation, led by President Guy Parmelin, will include Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), and Secretaries of State Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch (SECO) and Livia Leu (FDFA).<\/p>\n

At the center of the talks with the United States will be the lasting strengthening of economic relations and close cooperation in the field of education and research. Switzerland’s good offices will also be discussed.

Protecting power of the Russian Federation and Georgia<\/h4>\n

Bilateral talks with Russia will take place on Wednesday, June 16. The Russian delegation, headed by President Vladimir Putin, will also include Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The Swiss delegation will be identical to that for the meeting with the United States.
\nRussia, like the United States, belongs to the priority countries for Swiss foreign policy. Bilateral relations are good and intense in many areas.
\nThe declared objective of the Foreign Policy Strategy is to maintain a critical and constructive dialogue with Russia in order to further strengthen relations.

The fact that the summit between the United States and Russia is being held in Geneva is a clear demonstration of the trust that these two countries place in Switzerland, which has maintained good relations and an open and transparent dialogue with both countries for years.
\nSwitzerland is convinced that in order to find solutions to inter-state and global challenges, it is useful and necessary for the major powers to maintain a constructive dialogue. For this reason, Switzerland is making its good offices available to the two countries.
\nThe interest in this summit is great, more than 1000 media representatives are expected in Geneva. The Confederation and the cantons are taking important security measures.
